3rd Place in 3D

What a poetic finish to Trivia in 3D! This year we played hard and managed to pull off a 3rd place finish. We were quite a ways behind the 2nd and 3rd place teams who were more aggressive in some areas where we were lax this year. With competition like them, we have to be on the ball, taking advantage of all possible ways of finding answers, not just relying on the internet. Our internet was reliable and fast this year, which was a nice change from last year. The only internet difficulty was before the contest started when Chipotle didn't receive our online lunch order. Darren also had two make two trips home to get a variety of cords that were left behind. Thankfully, despite these setbacks, we were ready to go when the first question opened. And we were in 1st place after hour 1! Alas, that was the only time we were in 1st the whole contest. Stephan's Dream promptly rose to the top spot and stayed there. Given another hour or so, Mustache might have overtaken them, but they held on with a margin of 155 points. Thanks to all the top teams for making the contest so competitive!

Oh, so many great memories from this year. Let me know if you'd like yours added to the list.
Before the contest even began there was the arrival of the Voodoo Doll and the "hex" that came along with it. The monster truck appeared to have done the trick in destroying the doll's power. While our team did have some pretty nasty breath at the awards ceremony, it didn't seem connected with the fact that we didn't turn off all electronics during hour 13. It probably had more to do with Danielle's yummy dip, in which case, it was totally worth it!
Chipotle losing our online order. Thankfully the worst of our internet troubles for the weekend.
There were many hilarious rounds of "Wiki Wars" played between questions and lots of "style points" awarded.
Sara's "No Game Zone Pledge," modeled after Oprah's "No Phone Zone Pledge," was signed by many and boycotted by a few. How hard is it not to play video games during open questions? Okay, I know the answer to that, which is why it's been years since I've played ANY video games during trivia weekend. Just like Oprah says: What happens when the light turns green? Or when you hear your fish tank calling you from another tab and your google searches are coming up dry? Video games are more evil than any voodoo doll!
Burrito Hour, Poptart Hour, Mystery Muffin Hour, Smoothie Hour, Chocolate Malt Hour, yummy!
Ben and Danielle brought along Brett, our own personal barista, for the weekend with all his fresh roasted coffee and paraphernalia. What a treat! Thanks to Anodyne Coffee Roasting Co. for the amazing coffee!
All the love from the phone bank and question dispute lines. We loved talking to everyone, even when we didn't get points from you!
And suddenly, it was Premium Hour. We were not ready for the weekend to be over. Maybe another four hours should be added to the contest. :)

Thanks go out to our host and hostess for giving us the run of their house for the weekend and working hard to keep everyone well fed, the bathrooms maintained, and the trash to a bare minimum. You make a huge contribution to our winning ways.
Thanks to all the team grandparents who watch the young ones for the weekend. We are priming the next generation of trivia players. Unfortunately there is that window when they don't know which keys to press and which cords not to pull, so we appreciate the assistance.
A HUGE thank you for all the wonderful food contributions. People come out of the woodwork to bring food to our team and we want you to know we appreciate it. Friends and family members who never answer a single question find their own way to be a part of trivia weekend.
